Kanata North Recreation Complex

About the Kanata North Recreation Complex (KNRC)

Opening in Spring of 2012, the Kanata North Recreation Complex on Innovation Drive will serve the communities of Kanata North and West Carleton-March. The 6.21 hectare site is adjacent to existing pathway connections from Trillium Woods and is served by OC Transpo, and will include an eight-lane pool, large gym, two full soccer fields, community and multi-purpose rooms, an expansive fitness facility and indoor running track (view the site location map (PDF) by clicking here). The first public meetings were held at the end of 2007 and beginning of 2008 for the community to provide input on the kinds of facilities it would like to see in this new complex. After a series of introductory meetings and a well-attended priority setting session, a plan was developed by staff that received Council approval in February of 2009 (view the report at ottawa.ca). A Steering Committee made of up community members was established to review and provide input throughout the design and construction process, as well as to undertake fundraising efforts to further enhance the facility (visit the KNRC Steering Committee website at KanataRec2012.com).
