Women in Politics Campaign School at Ottawa City HallJan Harder and I will host a Women in Politics Campaign School on Saturday, February 27, 2010, at Ottawa City Hall, for women interested in running for municipal or school board office.As a member of the Federation of Canadian Municipalities’ (FCM) National Board of Directors and a member of FCM's Increasing Women’s Participation in Municipal Government Committee, I will be collaborating with Councillor Jan Harder to organize the event. The gaol is to teach women the skills they need to run a formal election campaign. The sessions, which will be offered in both English and French, will be led by women who have extensive experience in campaigning and municipal issues. Participants will learn about running a campaign, how to budget and how to develop a platform. Women who either want to run as candidates or work as campaign managers will take away the tools needed to run an effective campaign and deliver a strong election message. The Women in Politics Campaign School will take place on Saturday, February 27. Registration is from 8:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m., followed by the Women in Politics Campaign School promptly at 9:00 a.m. and running until 3:00 p.m. and the entire day will take place at Ottawa City Hall (110 Laurier Ave W).
